President Toomas Hendrik Ilves hosted Raimonds Vējonis, the Latvian head of state, at Ärma Farm this evening.

Presidents Ilves and Vējonis spoke about the economic and defence cooperation between Estonia and Latvia as two close neighbours and about their partnership in the European Union and NATO. The European security situation was also discussed.

This was the second, more unofficial, meeting between the heads of state since President Vējonis took office in July of this year.

The Latvian head of state planted a ginkgo tree in Ärma.
