08.05.2014

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves today started the ninth children's charity relay race at Freedom Square, Tallinn, which is being held to support children who have lost their mobility. He also called the charity line to make a donation.

The Head of State reminded those present that similar races are taking place in twenty locations all over Estonia and, in total, more than nine thousand children are participating. He added that this is one of the largest sporting events for children and young people in Estonia and the largest event held in Estonia where children can give their contribution to charity.

"Seven-year-old Astrid, fourteen-year-old Gerry and other children at Haapsalu Neurological Rehabilitation Centre who have lost their mobility, with your help can take a step closer towards coping and independent mobility. Your helping hands will help them become stronger," told President Ilves.

He invited all grown-ups to call the charity line at 900 77 77 to support the children who have lost their mobility. "Let us notice those who need to be noticed," told the Head of State, in addressing all the parents, and he called the charity line to make a donation there and then.
