The President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, and Mrs. Evelin Ilves will this afternoon and tomorrow morning host the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, and his wife, Anne Applebaum, at Ärma farm.

At their informal meeting, the Estonian Head of State and the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs will focus on the challenges facing the European Union and Europe in general, and will also discuss co-operation in the Baltic Sea region and trans-Atlantic co-operation.

"Estonia and Poland, two reliable allies, regard a financially, economically and politically successful and influential Poland to be important," told President Ilves. "We both also see the importance of a democratic Europe; a Europe free from the fears characteristic of the 19th or 20th century."

President Ilves and Minister Sikorski emphasised the importance of co-operation between the Baltic Sea countries.

"Our mutual close co-operation, involving as many spheres as possible, will make this region competitive and attractive," stated President Ilves.

This week, an informal meeting of Presidents of Estonia and Poland also took place; Bronisław Komorowski hosted President Ilves in his summer residence near Gdansk.
