The President of the Republic’s Cultural Foundation announces the competition for the Young Scientist Award.

The 75,000-kroon Young Scientist Award bestowed by the President of the Republic’s Cultural Foundation is intended for Estonian scientists with doctoral degrees that are under 35 years of age, who are doing research work Estonian or foreign research institutions or universities. The Young Scientist Award is financed by Toomas Luman, a member of the Foundation’s Supervisory Board.

In order to become a candidate, a written application must be submitted with personal details and a short biography (name, address, education, and professional activities), a description of the research work and list of published research papers. As well as recommendations from at least two advisors or faculty members. The candidates themselves, their advisors, faculty members, employers, as well as Members of the Supervisory Board of the Cultural Foundation may submit the applications.

All the documents related to the application should be sent or brought to the President of the Republic’s Cultural Foundation, at A. Weizenbergi 39, 15050 Tallinn by November 17, 2008.

Last year, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves presented the Young Scientist Award to chemist Ivari Kaljurand.
