President Ilves expressed his condolences to Japan

26.07.2016

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves sent a letter of condolences to the Emperor Akihito of Japan in the wake of the knife attach at a care centre for people with special needs that left many people dead and wounded.

"I am deeply saddened by the murderous attacks on disabled people at the care centre in Sagamihara, Japan. It is a horrible day for Japan. Our thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones, with those who are injured and with the people of Japan. We join you in your sorrow on this dark day," wrote President Ilves.
