"My Interview with Cyber Expert, Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves", Tufts University, 9 October 2013

09.10.2013

James Stavridis

Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves — an internationally recognized expert on cyber technology and a strong supporter of NATO—joined us at The Fletcher School a few weeks ago for an engaging lecture about cybersecurity, Europe, NATO and transatlantic relations.

During his visit, I took the opportunity to interview President Ilves about the current economic climate in Estonia and the country's commitment to military spending—Estonia is one of the few NATO countries that meets agreed-upon targets for military spending—as well as his current views on cyber security.

For more from President Ilves, read our coverage and view his lecture to the Tufts community, "What Keeps Me Awake at Night? Worries and Challenges for a Small European Ally."
